101 Things To Do in 1001 Days

Inspired by my dearest Jake, and this website, the list I've developed and posted to the left is my attempt at the Day Zero Project, which is, according to the site, a unique meme that challenges and inspires you to set and complete realistic goals in life.

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (i.e. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable, or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (i.e. represent some amount of effort on your part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

I am going to begin my 1001 day countdown the same day as Jake, which will be July 1st, 2009, with the end date being March 28, 2012. My list still needs a little work, but I'll have it finalized by then!

  1. I see a number of things we can accomplish from your list in DC!!! Especially since one of the things is go to DC!! :) :) :) Can't wait to see you and meet Jake!

Also, I had an idea similar to this (mine was to make a list of things I have done and things I want to do), so I might end up with my own 1001 Day list! I like the part about setting a timeline/deadline, but I think I want to make a bigger "lifetime goal" list, too. Anyway, see you soon!!
